14 October 2010 Fito de la Parra: 43 years with the Heat
Photo Report: Canned Heat in Helsinki
Legendary group Canned Heat played the Tavastia Club in Helsinki, Finland,
on 13 October. The early signs looked like it would be a quiet night, but by
showtime the place had filled up quite a lot. It was a mostly middle aged male
crowd - enjoying a midweek beer by the looks of it!
But there were a few young faces and a sprinkling of women. One 'older' woman
danced and reminisced about seeing them play in California in 1983... By the
second song (On the Road Again), there was even a bit of jostling and jumping
around at the front.
In addition, the crowd got to hear such classics as "Sugar Bee", "Goin' Up the
Country", "Time Was", and "Let's Work Together".
The line-up for the Helsinki concert was de la Parra (drums, vocals), Dave
Spalding (vocals, harmonica, guitar), Harvey Mandel (guitar), and John Paulus
(bass).
